2016 Nissan Frontier new release date model with new specs in exterior… – The current version of the Frontier has been around ever since the mid of 2004 which simply makes it the oldest truck in its class by a very big margin. In fact, some people even thought that the car was not even manufactured which is a bit problematic for Nissan. In order to make things right once again, the stated that a new version of the Frontier is in the works.
Review design of 2016 Nissan Frontier
Like we said, the design of the 2016 Nissan Frontier will not be identical to that of the European of Asian model and it will not get the same trim levels either. Instead, the truck will be available in three basic trim levels such as S, SV and SL. These will be similar in equipment level to the older model meaning that the most basic S model will get a basic audio system, a new tilting steering column and also a tailgate lock. The SV will add air conditioning, power mirrors and windows as well as a small display for the audio system. The top of the range SL will come with a touch-screen based infotainment and navigation unit, climate control and even electric seats.
On top of these, a special edition Desert Runner similar to the previous model is also expected to be released in short supply at first. This will add performance shocks and springs, upgraded brakes, high performance off-road tires and lightweight wheels as well as a special package for the exterior with a unique color scheme and new front and rear bumpers.
Under the hood – engine specs
Under the hood of the 2016 Nissan Frontier we are likely to see a mix of old and new engines which will certainly get the job done. The base model will likely carry on unchanged with the same 2.5 liter displacement and a very similar output. However, the old 4 liter V6 will most likely be replaced by a smaller 3.5 liter naturally aspirated V6 from the Maxima. This engine could push up to 300 horsepower and more than 260 lb-ft of torque with ease and it could allow the Frontier to compete with the more powerful Tacoma or the Colorado. A 6 speed manual will likely be offered as standard for both while a 6 speed automatic should be available as an option.
A diesel has also been rumored for a long time and it seems that after their partnership with Cummins, Nissan will give some of these new engines to their other models. The Frontier should get a 2.8 liter turbocharged inline 4 which could develop around 160 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque, enough to make it a better choice for towing and long distance hauling than the bigger and more powerful V6. This engine should come with its own 8 speed automatic gearbox and it may be available at first in rear wheel drive form only.
2016 Nissan Frontier Release Date
This will be released with the 2016 Nissan Frontier and until then, they will continue to sell the current truck as a 2016 model year before completely replacing it next year. Just like with the current model, the new truck is actually going to be based on an already proven design.
2016 Nissan Frontier Price
This time, the new 2016 Nissan Frontier will be based on the D23 Navara which has been first launched back in 2014 and updated for the European market earlier this year. The US model of the truck will be similar to either of the two versions but it will feature different engines, a slightly different interior design as well as a more aggressive exterior.
These updated and changes should make the Frontier once again the center of attention in its class and it should give Nissan an all needed boost in sales. The price when it will launch should start at around $18,000 which is quite a bit cheaper than the competition.
