Here we will talk about 2016 Hyundai Santa Cruz Price, Release Date, Specs and other interesting things. This year at New York Auto Show we could see Santa Cruz crossover truck concept for the first time. This long anticipated pickup truck was finally presented in March. When you take a look at Hyundai Santa Cruz it looks like a combination of sedan and pickup truck. As a matter of fact it takes the best from both worlds. It also takes after a crossover, hence we have unique vehicle with some astonishing characteristics. One of the biggest advantages is mileage as well as ecological footprint. This pickup truck is actually the first one that uses Santa Cruz crossover concept and it will be based on the same platform as Hyundai Tucson.
The production of Hyundai Santa Cruz 2016 has begun recently thus we can expect it will come to the market soon. It will be primarily offered to the US market. According to the CEO of the company, Dave Zuchowski, Santa Cruz was based on the wishes of American customers thus he expects good sales figures even in the first year. Too ambitious or not – it is up to you to decide, but one thing is sure – this pickup truck has a lot of things to offer.

Engine Horsepower Fuel Efficiency
2016 Hyundai Santa Cruz is going to have only one choice when it comes to the engine. It is the 2.0l four-cylinder turbodiesel that can produce 190 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. Perhaps you think it doesn’t have enough power but torque is much more important for a pickup truck and 300 lb-ft is just enough. Engine will have special air vents so it can be cooled down easily. Truck will also be equipped with Brembo brakes. Even though 2016 Hyundai Santa Cruz has less horsepower than an average pickup truck in the US, there are some characteristics that place this truck among the top in the class. One of them is fuel efficiency. With fuel economy of 30 mpg on average it will be competitive on the North American market. Every vehicle has its pros and cons and it is up to us to weigh them and see whether we like some car or not.

Interior and Exterior Design of 2016 Hyundai Santa Cruz
As it was mentioned at the beginning, 2016 Hyundai Santa Cruz is a mixture of sedan, crossover SUV and a pickup truck, thus it has quite unique design. Five passengers can be conveniently accommodated in a comfortable interior that takes after crossover SUV. On the other hand, the exterior is much more like any other pickup truck. With this vehicle and its futuristic design, Hyundai targets youngsters who are looking for good looking but practical car. Even though the production has just started, you can find some pictures of new Santa Cruz taken at New York and Detroit Auto Show, and see this is the pickup with outstanding design. Seats at the back can be easily taken out if you need to provide more space for cargo. It will have all standards features, as any other truck manufactured by Hyundai: navigation system, automatic climate control, touch panel placed on the dashboard, dual-zone climate control, etc. There are more features but some of them are still kept of record and probably we won’t find out what else is hidden in the cabin before the release.

2016 Hyundai Santa Cruz Release Date and Price
Considering production has just started it is reasonable to expect 2016 Hyundai Santa Cruz will hit the market by the end of 2015. It will be offered on the North American market, but we need to wait and see whether Hyundai is going to offer it on some markets, as well. In our assumption, price won’t exceed $40,000. With a higher price it would not be competitive in the US.

Considering U.S. pricing and Hyundai, I would hope the base model wouldn’t exceed $20,000, with a fully optioned model reaching no further than $35,000 Certainly this is something that has been talked about for a couple decades. I remember the dealer mentioning it when buying my first Hyundai. We’ll see if competive pricing is the intent unless they are shooting for “style is pricey” and intend on competing with those who might be interested in a BMW but want a pickup. This would suck for those who have waited for an economical pickup with a good warranty that was affordably competitive.
My Subaru Baja is the best car I’ve ever owned, but it’s getting near 150K miles. I was hoping to replace it with the Santa Cruz, but if this new car is any more than $25k, I’ll just keep my Baja on the road.
